In a few days time we will again celebrate Christmas, the Nativity of Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Christmas is celebrated by many as one of the most important of Christian feasts. For us Catholics, the Advent Season is the beginning of the Church’s liturgical year as well as a time of hope and of longing, of joyful expectation and of peaceful preparation. It is also a time of singing joyful songs and of giving and of sharing.
On December 12, 2014 at the Holy Family Cathedral in Kuwait City, many witnessed a very successful International Christmas Caroling Concert with the theme: “Come, Build My Church”, organized by the Catholic Church in Kuwait through the initiative of Father Ruben Barrameda, Assistant Parish Priest and Head of the Music Ministry of St. Therese Parish, Salmiya. It was a way of sharing the bountiful gifts we have received from the goodness of the Lord through showcasing the different musical talents of the Catholics in Kuwait. The benefit of this concert is for the construction of the New Cathedral in Bahrain.
Poster announcing the Concert was displayed on all the parish notice-boards
The concert revolved around 5 talented choirs from 3 parishes in Kuwait namely: Sts. Joachim and Anne Children’s Choir from St. Therese Parish, Salmiya; Our Lady of Manaoag Choir from Our Lady of Arabia Parish, Ahmadi; Theresian Filipino Catholics from St. Therese Parish, Salmiya; Pinoy Catholics in Kuwait Grand Choir and St. John Vianney Grand Choir from Holy Family Cathedral, Kuwait City. All the choirs gave a splendid performance and the audience really felt the joyous festivity of Christmas. As part of the celebration, some members of the parishes were given a Service Award in recognition of their untiring support for their service to the Church.

Indeed, it was a night of praise and thanksgiving. As we all wait for Christmas, may we continue to pray for peace, love and more blessings from the Lord and be instruments and true witnesses of God’s love to others.
